Why do you love what you do? I love crafting well-executed, engaging and incisive communications strategies and content to help clients tell their story. I’m always looking for that unique position at the intersection of originality, innovation and expression—I compete against myself to discover and deliver from that space because it’s so satisfying when I win.
What got you through the lockdown phase of the pandemic? To-go chips and guac and margaritas from El Alma. We also came up with our own signature at-home frozen marg recipe that involved fresh fruit (during lockdown, it became necessary to detox while you retoxed).
What do you do in your free time? Run, hike into/explore the Greenbelt
Favorite Austin activity/past time? Barton Springs, shows at The Mohawk
What are you reading/listening to/watching these days? I listen to a lot of podcasts–I never miss Motley Fool Money or Ghost of a Podcast.
What is one piece of advice that you’d offer to a company considering hiring a PR partner? Ask a potential public relations partner to share a portfolio of their actual work product with you and that represents a range of clients–things like past campaign briefs, media strategies, thought leadership pieces, etc. Really take time to review that portfolio and consider the personal responses you’re having. Are they favorable or unfavorable? Does each client example seem to have its own distinct voice and identity? Is this the caliber of work that you want representing my company? Your PR is what the world sees of your organization and you want to make sure you’re working with a communications partner who can consistently cater to and deliver on the spirit of your brand and goals.
